My name is Linh, and I am the oldest of three children in my family. My father once worked hard to support us, but after a workplace accident, he lost 60% of his ability to work. Since then, life has become much more difficult. My mother has poor eyesight and cannot do heavy work. During bamboo shoot season, she goes to the forest to collect shoots to sell, and some days what she earns is only enough for our daily meals.

My family does not own any farmland, and my father’s small ironwork jobs are our only steady income. When I graduated from high school, a painful reality stood before me—my parents could no longer afford to send me to college.

There were many nights when I lay awake wondering about my future. I believed education was the only path that could help me escape poverty, but it felt like that path was slowly disappearing. Then, the support from Giving It Back To Kids came into my life.

On August 18, 2023, I was accepted into Lighthouse—a home for female university students. That day became one of the most important turning points in my life.?Living at Lighthouse has given me more than just a place to stay—it has given me hope. Here, I am supported in my studies and surrounded by people who care, encourage, and believe in me. I have learned responsibility, gratitude, perseverance, and the courage to keep chasing my dreams. I am also blessed with warm, nourishing meals every day, filled with both nutrition and love.

Because of this opportunity, I can continue pursuing my dream of graduating from Danang College of Commerce with a degree in Commercial Business. This support has brought hope not only to me, but also to my entire family.

One day, when I am capable enough, I hope to give back and help others who face hardships like I once did. Because sometimes, a single opportunity can transform a future. And Giving It Back To Kids was that opportunity for me.
