Byron is the CEO & President of Mission to Children, a Christian charity that he has been with for over 23 years. He has a passion for gospel-centered friendships to make Christ known globally, which is why he’s excited to be part of the KC4K advisory team.

He graduated from Biola University with a BA in Intercultural Studies (1998) with an interdisciplinary in Business. After graduation Byron went on a missions trip to Romania for three months, team-teaching English as a second language at a Baptist church in Sibiu. Following Romania, Byron led an evangelism team to Alkmaar, Holland for another three months. Upon return to the USA, Byron gained professional experience working for a nationwide publishing company on a web team that built online curriculum for schools. In the evening, he lived and volunteered at a residential tutoring center as way of outreach to Hispanic youth through the local church. God orchestrated these life-learning experiences to impress upon Byron the essentiality of Scripture, the local church, and investing in kingdom-minded relationships.

Byron and his amazing wife live in Riverside, California. They enjoy life with their three wonderful daughters and gospel-centered community with their local church.

Bible Coloring Pages for christian Parents

0

Help the children in your church feel useful (connected to the body) by encouraging them to color Bible verses for others, cards for the ill, invitations to the unsaved, special Bible blessings for new converts OR giving a Bible makeover to their homes and the homes of their extended family: Aaunts, uncles, cousins etc. Receiving a hand colored Father’s Day, Mother’s day, or birthday card with the best wishes of a child could surely be used of God to influence even the most wavering soul. Imagine what an army of children coloring these cards could do for the body of Christ, not to mention the blessing a child’s soul feels when it is able to be a part of something worthwhile. Coloring Bible Verses for others could birth in a child’s heart a deep sense of being worthwhile, of wanting to belong and do more. These free Bible Coloring pages could be just the thing to help Parents share the Bible with their children.

A Harmonious Journey

0

In the quiet village of Aatanit in South Lebanon lives a boy named Ali Ousso. At the tender age of 12, Ali’s life bore the weight of displacement, his family being Syrian refugees of Kurdish descent. Yet, amidst the challenges, a glimmer shone in these dark days he was living through.

Ali’s journey began when he first stepped into the welcoming embrace of the Hope Center at the age of 6, his heart filled with the promise of education and community. However, his family wanted him elsewhere, and Ali found himself torn from the warmth of the center, and forced into a different school. His heart remained tethered to the Hope Center.

For two long years, Ali struggled in his new environment, his spirit restless until his father, sensing his son’s silent anguish decided to relocate him once more. Ali’s joy knew no bounds as he returned to the familiar halls of the Hope Center, where he belonged. Yet, Ali’s transformation was not just academic. Within those walls, he found his voice, shedding his introvertness and restoring his confidence. Inspired by his teachers’ guidance, Ali decided to start teaching his illiterate father the lessons he learned each day.

In those intimate moments of learning, Ali didn’t just teach his father academic subjects but also imparted profound moral lessons. He shared stories from the Bible, including the teachings of Jesus. Ali once told his father, “When people treat us badly, we shouldn’t respond in the same way. Instead, we should show them love, just as Jesus teaches us. That’s how we become more like him, as his children.” Through his example and the lessons he taught, his family accepted Christ and became hungry for more.

Tom Atema

Tom Atema

After working with his Father at Johanna Farms, milk wholesale processing business, for 14 years, Tom and his wife, Chris and their two sons, felt it was time to use his gifts and talents in the faith-based non-profit world.

Word of Life Fellowship:  In 1985, Tom became a volunteer missionary representative for Word of Life Fellowship. Tom’s volunteer service with Word of Life led to his becoming Director of Gift Planning Ministry and Development. That made him responsible for major donor giving for the entire ministry. And in 1990, Tom became director of Word of Life Fellowship Florida, where he directed the Fellowship’s conference center and youth camp.

Billy Graham Evangelistic Association:  In 1993, Tom was asked to help The Billy Graham Training Center at The Cove, near Asheville, North Carolina, to get costs under control without sacrificing the guest experience.  In 1999, Tom was asked to become executive director of Blue Ridge Broadcasting, BEGA’s radio ministry. The challenge was to jumpstart a long-stagnant part of the ministry. He did it by recasting the vision, refocusing programming, expanding the audience, and creating a healthier and more effective team. In six years, both audience size and budget more than tripled.

EQUIP Leadership Inc.:  Starting in 2006, Tom served John Maxwell’s EQUIP ministry as vice president of International Ministries and Strategic Partnerships. EQUIP is a non-profit organization devoted to training international Christian leaders to fulfill the Great Commission.  Under Tom’s leadership, EQUIP grew from working in 42 countries in 2006 to having influence in 210 countries by 2012, turned a financial deficit into an operational surplus, built an international team of volunteer coordinators around the globe and built a roster of 150 incredible ministry partners.

Heart for Lebanon:  Founded following the July 2006 war in Lebanon, H4L was born out of a desperate need to see lives changed and communities transformed by the power and grace of God. Tom in his role as co-founder helped an idea take wing and develop into a healthy, strategic and focused ministry, by building the systems, relationships and structures. He continues to serve US legal Representative, COO and the USA Board link to the General Assembly in Lebanon as well as coach to the team in Lebanon.

Tom and Chris live in Asheville, NC.  Both of their sons are married and own their own businesses.  They are the grandparents of 3 boys and 1 girl.

Tom has authored two books;  “Leadership in Blue Jeans” and his second book “Relationships break the Rules” Rethinking our non-profit mandate.
